To me, the issue proposed by Primo does not seem trivial; are you sure that it is pedagogically appropriate to start this early? If I remember correctly, entry into the old composition courses was permitted up to age 15—sure, there is the word 'up to'... but it was an extension compared to, for example, instrumentalists who had to apply much sooner ("much" ... compared to a total of 15).

I have always wondered why... perhaps one is not effectively ready.

I believe that our educational system, regarding music, is truly unreliable. All other disciplines are learned from a very young age; only music, for some unknown reason, requires more mature people... but who said that? Aren't essays written in elementary school? Of course they are. Logically: they won't be like university theses, but it is a first exercise in organizing thoughts and putting them in writing, following basic grammatical and logical rules. Why couldn't the same apply to composition?

If you can start talking around one year of age and writing at 6... you can do the same with music. No limits

How young or old you are makes no difference, there are people who compose from age 3 until they pass away, so don't worry
