Insert the additional line and choose the hide option when the line is not used, i.e., on all pages except the one you are interested in

From the 2012 finale, it is done via Instruments, Musical Staff, Hide empty staves. You can also select a part of the score and apply this setting only in that instance.

In versions prior to 2012, it was done differently

effectively I wasn't very clear. I meant, imagine having an ensemble of 10 instruments with a piece of 200 measures, of which one instrument enters for only 2 measures. In traditional scores, that instrument's staff does not appear for the whole piece with rests, but only appears when needed. How do you make it disappear in the final version when it is not needed?

i have finale 2011, I couldn't find this function from the menu, but I discovered that it exists by using the right-click key while activating the small square that appears when you select a staff. Thank you

If I am not mistaken, there was also, from the "Page Layout" menu, the Optimize Staff System option
