Hello everyone!
I would like to propose for your listening a piece that I have recently written, to get your opinion.
It is titled "Scherzando con Couperin" and is "built" on the thematic material of the 6th prelude from L'Art de Toucher le Clavecin by F. Couperin.
In reality, the entire piece follows the prelude from beginning to end, but rereads it by transforming and decomposing Couperin's melodic lines into rhythmic/thematic fragments and cells that recombine and transform in various ways, using techniques of diminution, augmentation, or duplication. The piece also features a lot of polyrhythm, played mainly on irregular rhythms borrowed from Eastern European music.
The ensemble I used is Flute, Bb Clarinet, and Harpsichord.
