Dear Pianoexpert, I am asking you, how is it possible to glue wood with the composite material that Kawai uses for its pianos? To explain myself better, looking at a mechanism from this brand, I noticed that the hammer shanks as well as the hammer heads are glued into the composite material, what technique is used?

THANK YOU

Generally for mixed materials, epoxy glue (epoxy) or cyanoacrylate-based glues are used. I do not know the glues used by Kawai; let's hope that over time the parts of different materials glued together do not cause problems. Manufacturers are very attentive to lightweight materials, such as carbon, which seems to yield excellent results thanks to its lightness and robustness. We shall see.
