Only one key on my piano is giving me this problem: it stays stuck down and won't come back up if it is pressed too many times consecutively... the piano is from 1929 but was restored about twenty years ago.... what could it be??

first of all you must check if the problem is in the key or in the mechanism.

try with one finger to hold the mechanism up and check if the key moves freely without impediments.

if the key moves freely then the problem is in the mechanism. perhaps excessive friction?

Yes, I had also thought about the issue of friction ... even if it seems strange to me that it happened to only one key .... Thanks for the advice

a key sticking can depend on many things. One must isolate the parts of the mechanism and see when the obstruction occurs.
