I need a grand piano but, due to space constraints and the need to save money, I have to settle for a baby grand.
I found a bargain: a used Kreble 151cm in good condition. According to the dealer, it has been used very little (and I was able to confirm this from the condition of the hammers). He told me that they are practically Yamaha pianos in every respect under the Kreble brand since the latter was absorbed by Yamaha: I was also able to confirm this from the Yamaha branding present in the action.
I like the keyboard, excellent trills and repetitions, excellent "softness" and key slowness with a very wide dynamic range; the sound is cantabile, exactly like the Yamaha, but less metallic than the latter. I was able to verify the functioning of the "double escapement". Considering that I have to place it in a small environment, I believe 151 cm is more than enough; in fact, considering that it was located in a shop of a certain "size", the sound seemed quite powerful to me. Also according to the dealer, in terms of action performance, it is comparable to the Yamaha C1X, which is 10cm shorter.
I wanted to know your opinion. Keep in mind that I cannot go beyond 160cm.
I forgot: the price is ā¬5500 (I'm not paying for the brand) including transport with tuning and voicing, and another tuning within a year of purchase.
Francesco, if we can ask you what budget you intended to spend, I am sure that Pianoexpert will be able to direct you towards some models, perhaps even used ones. I read that you are from Manfredonia, not too far away, and so I believe Pianoexpert might also be willing to assist you in the purchase of a good used one and eventually in fixing any potential problems with the piano. In the used market, especially for private individuals, great opportunities can be found, and perhaps for the same price you can take home a quality piano that is even much superior to those already found in shops. Obviously, the dealer must have their share, they aren't there to waste time... It's a piece of advice...
