who is the only post-war singer I have ever heard succeed in achieving the extraordinary timbral effect at 0.31, in which the voice blends in an octave with the flute and the clarinet, creating a distinct timbre that is no longer voice, nor flute, nor clarinet. What a pity that today no one manages to render this effect, compromising in the result Offenbach's brilliant music.
