I noticed that when I record in real time on Cubase, even if I try to stay strictly in time, the playback is shifted backwards; that is, the notes I play are performed slightly earlier than when I played them during the recording phase. I don't know if I managed to explain myself clearly.
I think it might depend on a latency problem, but it is exactly the opposite: based on latency, sounds should be reproduced slightly later, but for me, the opposite happens. I don't think I am playing that far ahead all the time.
Consequently, I find myself always having to quantize, because sometimes the offset is exaggerated.
Do you have any suggestions to overcome this inconvenience?
The audio interface is a Tascam US-1800; input latency is set to 5.896 ms, output latency to 24.104 ms; I noticed that changing the latency settings yields the same result regarding my problem...

To me it seems like a typical quantization problem.
Are you saying as if the software automatically quantizes what I play?

Usually a quantization is set by default to prevent someone starting a nanosecond after the beat from having everything out of sync. But it's not certain that the defaults are good or that they exist in all software. Some notation programs don't have it.
