Too difficult by ear, Ale; I've put down what I think is safe. It seems to me that the strings are doing the impossible... either the violins are playing mega arpeggios or it doesn't quite add up for me.

I can't wait to have the solutions... as I was saying, this is truly very tough

... I won't tell you anything so as not to influence Ale, but this is definitely a tough panel.

finally I started working on this exercise .... my god, it's terrrrrible !!

tu eagle, how are you doing? I think I'll publish the solution on Friday. I probably won't have managed to finish it, but anyway even just trying helps to get into the problems and better understand the original.

he went all out with the strings ...

a couple of considerations:

hindsight is 20/20, it's simpler than I expected, few lines but heavily doubled by different instruments and also at the octave.

i just don't hear all this 'triumph of strings' in the mp3, just as I don't hear the rhythm of the brass in the last 2 measures.

does this happen to you too or is it just a problem with my [ears] ?

I believe that strings are the instruments that best "blend" at a timbral level; thanks to the concertation, I think the result proposed in the mp3 is plausible.

In reality, it also depends heavily on the conductor and the number of strings used. It seems to me that Carlos, in another topic in the past, spoke about the original instrumentation used by Beethoven, comparing it to the instrumentations used today.

A fascinating but complex discussion; we are entering the realm of interpretation and one of the reasons why Beethoven conducted by X is different from the same Beethoven conducted by Y
