He began working as a carpenter with his father and at age 14 he dedicated himself to the study of music with the village priest, later attending the Ceciliano school in the seminary and the free Gregorian chant course at the Music Lyceum of Piacenza. While serving as the organist in the village, he decided to build his own organ. After taking over an tuner's workshop in Piacenza, he began organ restoration activities together with his brother Giorgio. The two also built harmoniums, and one of their instruments in the electric version was awarded a gold medal at the international competition in Paris. Their electronic church organs were exported everywhere. In 1940 they electrified the organ of the S. Cuore church in Piacenza and in 1963 they restored that of S. Maria in Gariverto in Piacenza.
