Hello everyone, I know it is an unusual procedure but I have started evaluating the
drop weight of the second escapement (perhaps I am using the wrong terminology..)
of my Kawai GS40: we are at about 140-160 g with free action (damper pedal lowered);
the initial weight, however, is about 50g;
I decided to make this measurement because I complain of a certain fatigue when playing on
this action despite the primary weight being around 50 as I wrote (so "by the book" so to speak..)
I have noticed that the key makes a very decisive "step" (too much??) once lowered for the first few millimeters to reach
the full bottoming out; associated with this decisive step is a very sharp sound from the action.. like a "stok" (if my meager knowledge of the action does not deceive me, it should be the point where the pusher "escapes" for the first time..);
I would be very pleased to hear what you think...
I suspect that this is one of the causes, if not the primary one, of the "fatigue" of the keyboard..

If you then add the dampers when playing without the pedal, you become a bodybuilder.
If a mechanism is healthy and if it is correctly regulated, the let-off must be natural; the second escapement should facilitate the let-off (the release of the pusher) and not hinder it. Extreme adjustments guided only by millimeters, without feeling what happens with the sensitivity of one's own fingers, are often deleterious.
I advise you to entrust the control and regulation of the action to a capable technician, starting from checking the pins and friction and then moving on to regulation, ensuring it is the one most suitable for your hand.
certainly a difficult key release can be the cause of your sensation, but not only that. From here, without seeing the problem in person, nothing more can be said.
this problem is almost certainly due to excessive friction. The mechanics need revision by an expert. Almost always, the replacement of the pins and a general check of the frictions (rollers, heel of the wippens) are taken into consideration. Only after that can one proceed to a real evaluation of the key dip weight and the return weight of the keys to proceed with general regulation and other evaluations.
