Hi Gino,

If it can console you, I know that this year this piece received ONLY a special mention:

I can't wait to hear the winners, who knows what wonders they will have selected. Honestly, the pieces they selected last year seemed embarrassingly mediocre to me. So I am not surprised by anything.

I am finally listening to Gino's track and I must say that honestly I didn't connect much with this piece, even from the opening bars.

Setting aside the very rhetorical context, I don't think it's a language problem; I find interventions like the one at 20'' truly banal, it might be my own personal opinion but I think that some things - tastes aside - do not allow your track to go further. Out of curiosity, which part did the commission like the most?

I am listening to the piece proposed by Abate now; it seems to me that they have raised the bar significantly compared to last year. This seems much better to me than the winner of the previous edition. In fact, I must admit that it is a very beautiful and well-balanced piece. The audio is not very well-curated, but even at the performance level, the quality seems excellent; the cellist is truly very good!
