The famous Galileo Galilei was a lute virtuoso and had inherited this passion from his father Vincenzo, author of the most important lute music manuscript of the 1500s, Il Fronimo. Galileo's brother was also a skilled lutenist, composer of various pieces including this Toccata from 1620.
