I can't play like I did last week anymore. I just don't understand. I'm not feeling well. Is it the piano that has changed with the heat? Is it me, having suffered from the heat and having done physical activity, that I've lost a few kilos? My goodness, such anxiety. In my head, I feel different sensations; the sound I get is not the same. It might be a psychological thing, I don't know. I am truly confused.
It is certainly a psychological problem. You have convinced yourself that you play badly and inevitably you can only play badly.
Lately I have been playing very little due to work issues. I am replying to you from Reggio Calabria, where I have gone for a week to work. I have a colleague here in Reggio who has a piano and just yesterday we spent about half an hour playing before dinner. Even though I am playing little, I know that I can no longer perform a Chopin ballad as I used to when playing constantly every day, so I have focused on pieces that are certainly easier to digest, and I approached them with the right confidence and trying to enjoy the music.
Despite some small inaccuracies, I didn't play badly at all. Try to think more about the music and less about the technical aspects which, even due to very hot weather conditions, inevitably tend to decline a bit, especially if you are a person who is very affected by the heat.
