The piano in question is a KAWAI BL-51 serial number K 930629 year 1978, refurbished.
When playing the keys from the third octave to the fifth (+/-), the strings of the first octave vibrate, both the wound and single ones. The dampers seem to be fine; I tried replacing a couple, but nothing changes, so I mounted a strip of felt (the kind used for gaskets) on the part of the string not covered in copper, passing one string over and one under and so on; and the phenomenon is significantly muffled, but does not disappear. I am asking then:
1- is it orthodox to mount this strip of felt?
2- what could be causing this vibration?
I repeat, it is as if the damping is not sufficient to stop the string.
