In my opinion, the most beautiful interpretation available today, Gulda's is also very beautiful...
The only flaw: I feel the orchestra is a little too much on the rails. Is it just my impression? Uchida, on the other hand, gave a truly magnificent performance!

Truly extraordinary. Uchida is the only one (along with Brendel) who manages to play Mozart (IMHO).

I didn't quite understand exactly what you meant by "a little too much on the rails," but if you mean that they are a bit... stiff, well, I would say you are right, but I haven't had time to watch the whole video. It could indeed be discussed: do you know who they are? I wouldn't rule out that they had engaged "safety mode," which is the mode orchestras use when they don't entirely trust the conductor in front of them...

Yes, exactly like that... I feel like they aren't letting go. The strange thing is that it's unclear whether it might be a psychoacoustic problem rather than the orchestra itself. The sound seems quite dry to me, and often capturing it with a bit of ambience, especially with orchestras, greatly enriches the overall quality of the performance.
