Hello everyone,
This year I will begin studying composition.
There is one thing that intrigues me a lot: how does one reach the point of mastering form?
To explain myself better: how does a composition student come to want to write a composition with a specific form (any form) and be able to do so?
Are there specific exercises that a teacher has a student perform to learn how to compose following a certain form?
Or is there another way?
For example, if a composer is commissioned to write a composition in a musical form that they do not know, how does the composer manage to be able to write in that form?
Are there texts that explain the structures of all musical forms and how to compose following one of them?
Forgive me if my questions seem stupid or trivial, but as I said at the beginning, I have yet to start studying composition and am still very ignorant on the subject.
Thank you all
