Mysterious manual command — Pianoconcerto Forum

Good morning,

I am writing because I am restoring (a big word, I must say) a BREMITZ piano from the early 1900s.

I found that on the right side of the keyboard there is a knob mounted that operates a small rod, but nothing is connected to it.

Can anyone tell me what it might have been used for?

My hypothesis is that it was the manual control for the practice pedal (sordina), but inside the piano I can't find anything (holes or provisions for its mounting, I mean).

Look, that is the hand mute. It certainly moves a mechanism to which the mute bar was attached

It is certainly the mute, but connected to the rod and inside the piano, I found no trace of the mechanism.

Just out of curiosity, do you have any photos of how the mechanism might presumably have been?
