Hello everyone. I am a new user and I joined to share my passion for the piano with others. I am almost 49 years old, I have been taking lessons for about 1 and a half years, after having abandoned piano studies over 30 years ago. I play in my free time, even getting up early in the morning to do so. I hope to find friends who can give me some advice and to listen to as much music as possible.
Hey, how lovely. I didn't imagine that so many people had started playing the piano at around my age. It's truly fantastic...( it means I'm not crazy ๐ ).
Why!! What age? Think that at 49 you can start and graduate in about ten years. Absurd things? Willpower can do anything, Einstein used to say... and there is nothing truer. Good luck on your adventure!

Excuse me, I also often use this beautiful point of view, but it is my understanding that it is (no longer) possible to enter a conservatory, or even take exams, after a certain age, isn't that so?!!
The conservatory is no longer like it used to be. It is equated in all respects to a university. Therefore, the courses are three-year programs + a two-year specialization. The old system, which provided for 10 years, has been abolished. Only internal students who started under the old system and still need to finish can complete it. All new enrollments must take place through the new system.
There is no age limit for entry into the conservatory, but enrollment is granted subject to passing an admission exam. The programs for the admission exams are available for viewing on the websites of Italian conservatories. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or, in order for the final degree to have the value of a university degree, they must obtain it before the end of their conservatory studies.
So, if you have a high school diploma and possess the skills to prepare for the admission exam, you could finish in 3 years for a first-level degree or in 5 years for a second-level degree under the new system.
