Controversies are raging over the Oscar candidate selections due to the absence of nominations for African American actors and the absence of women in the directing category. The entertainment world has split between those calling for greater protections for minorities and those who believe that favoring African American actors, or members of any other minority, is itself a form of racial discrimination.

And which side are you on?

If they are good, what does it matter what color they are or what they are hiding ....um "in their underwear"!

One must be there by merit and not by right. If one needs to protect oneself against those who evaluate, it is because there is no trust; therefore, changing the jury (Simple). If instead the jury is honest, what is the problem? Evidently, there are no female directors or high-level actors of color. I am not a technician to evaluate.
