Pappano and the Labèque sisters live
on air Monday, May 7 at 9:00 PM
Passionate ambassadors of music of every form and color, from jazz to contemporary, from Mozart to the great classics of the twentieth century, the two pianist sisters Katya and Marielle Labèque are the protagonists of the concert broadcast live on Rai5, from the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. On the program is the rare Concerto for two pianos and orchestra by the Czech composer, later a US citizen, Bohuslav Martinu.
On the podium of the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia is Antonio Pappano, who in the second part of the evening conducts one of the greatest masterpieces of religious music of all time: Francis Poulenc's "Gloria," performed by the Choir of Santa Cecilia. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's famous "Haffner" Symphony closes the concert with its celebrated final movement in "Presto" tempo, to be performed per the composer's express wish "as fast as possible." The video recording is produced by La Musica di Raitre, directed by Andrea Bevilacqua
