Honestly, I am not informed. I assume they are magnets that help the repetition movement. For these innovations, however, judgments cannot be made until after a certain number of years. I believe that piano mechanics have now reached a definitive form that satisfies even the most aggressive performances. I don't see many elements to improve other than attention to perfect regulation, tuning, and hammer voicing. Personally, but only personally, I am very cautious in evaluating and welcoming devices that move the nature of mechanical operation far from the current one. Just my point of view.

I have never tried pianos with a similar system, but I believe that, at least conceptually, it is very close to the return spring at the forcola of the jacks, which decreases the downward weight by increasing the upward weight in place of significant weighting: this way, mass and inertia are reduced. This can be a good or a bad thing: it depends. In my opinion - and from personal experience - they can serve to help the movement of the short key lever, with an inertia and vivacity that can only be obtained with weighting alone using a long lever. But if it were already long, well, I think the inertia would be too little: a bit of inertia, a bit of resistance gives the pianist a feeling of controllability and security. Such an experiment was put into practice by Steinway at the time of removing the return spring and increasing the weighting: pianists opted for the second option. Obviously, we are talking about state-of-the-art concert grand pianos, where such aids are obsolete and artificial. In the short lever, however, they can help immensely in eliminating the limitation of the short length. What do you think, Paolo?

I am not sure that Steinway, in the past, adopted a return spring on the trestle. One must be a little careful with the concept of inertia regarding the lever. Inertia is one thing and "resistance", instead, is a more complex concept.

Of course, I related the sensations, not the physical concept. Returning to the famous example of a Fiat 500 and a limousine: if I had to push them by hand, I would have quite some difficulty if the inertia were the same as that of a toy car (I would find them smashed against a wall?). I think it is more or less the same thing at the piano.
