piano buying advice

A tall model is to be preferred. One must see the condition of the instrument, the soundboard, and the action. When a piano works (and especially when it works well), the similarities outweigh the differences, which instead become evident when problems begin to arise. Therefore, more than the brand, the basic design and the condition of the instrument are important.

Consider that if the instrument is worth it and is structurally in good condition, anything can be done regarding the action. One must consider that it is an additional cost. We must demand to walk away with an instrument that works and that satisfies us.

Petrof is an excellent piano. One needs to see how it is! However, even if there are things to be done, in the end it will sound and function well.

However, one cannot choose an instrument from a distance. One must hope that it hasn't been manipulated and/or "beautified" (perhaps the hammer rail was shaved incorrectly, etc.) and certain structural situations must be verified (tuning stability, condition of the strings, integrity of the soundboard and the action, etc.)
