I tuned a piano whose action was decent, but it has a major problem regarding the keys:
they are plastic, many keytops have come unglued and it is not possible to reattach them, partly because some have been lost, and partly because those "set aside" are curved upwards!
Where can one purchase keytops for a piano keyboard? Are there online stores for this? Has this ever happened to you?
Being a very old piano (strangely the tuning holds well), the owner absolutely does not want to spend much.
There are supplies for technicians, but the work requires experts. Furthermore, after replacement, the keyboard must be leveled again and the key dip must be determined once more. It is advisable to hire a technician. Additionally, one must carefully consider the type of covering and the appropriate glue to use. Lastly, it is advisable to clamp the keys with specific brass clamps.
