Hello everyone,

I wanted to share with you an app I developed: it's called Piano Voicing, and it was born as a timbre diagnostic system (to understand how much an instrument deviates from a physical reference model, note by note) and then expanded to include real-time tuning, directly from your phone.

The part I use most is the analog dial that updates while you play: no buttons to press, just hold the key down and the needle moves in real time, with inharmonicity actually measured via FFT on every single string, not read from a theoretical table. There is also a calculation of the real beat frequency between two already measured notes.

The tuning target is not fixed to equal temperament: you can build your own scale with an interval editor (in cents, with guaranteed octave closure), Harry Partch's tone diamond for just intonation, or an equal scale calculator (12/24/36/48-EDO).

I built it for my work as a piano technician, starting from the timbre diagnostic part that I have been working on for some time. For now, it is only available for iOS, but the Android version is coming soon.

I would like to know how you manage your documentation for voicing and tuning work, and if such a tool would be useful to you in your daily work. I am available for any questions.

Good morning... interesting idea, but I wonder if the precision of a phone microphone is sufficient for inharmonicity on a grand piano.

I hope it doesn't affect nervous tension too much during practice... it could become a distraction :)
