i've had the crazy idea of offering my students a taste of polyphonic singing.
it is proving to be very difficult, especially overcoming psychological fears.
the search for choral intonation is no less difficult!
unison is still a utopia (i'm not being ironic, i'm serious) but we are at a good point;
the empty fifth was a bit easier (simply because some choristers are sometimes convinced they are singing in unison! ;-D and for this I deeply thank the harmonic sounds for their precious collaboration!) ;-P
a small spark ignited a few days ago when, by chance, without thinking too much about it, a 3-note major chord was intoned, almost perfect!
i am working hard on the basic settings (especially on intonation and the search for sound);
what I'm missing is an engaging repertoire; so far I have proposed a couple of canons (re-arranged and a bit remixed) and they are yielding decent results; but I feel that I won't be able to make them sing them forever.
ave you any suggestions?
i came across this collection of choral pieces (see attachment);
it contains several interesting proposals (i bought it); but it contains too little Africa!
anyway, it seems to me that I've understood that the volume is part of a fairly substantial series;
does anyone here know it? and if so, could you recommend any specific volumes?
