Hello, I am 18 years old and I entered the conservatory last September; I have completed the first year of intermediate level. From what I understand, I should play a second instrument for at least one year (or do an extra year of choir), and I wanted to ask for advice if you think it is a good idea to start at my age. I have wanted to play the violin, or at least a string instrument, for years... Furthermore, it is not very clear to me how to proceed, because the second instrument programs only exist for piano as a second instrument (piano practice), whereas for example there is nothing on "violin as a second instrument"...

I also wanted advice on when to start music history: is it better to finish solfeggio first?

Above all, I am trying to understand which subjects are best for me to take since next year I will also have to take my high school graduation exams (maturità).

Playing a string instrument requires a good ear, which is developed through hard work but can take a long time for some. I don't know you, so from this point of view, I don't know how you are doing/where you stand.
