Premier Renzi and the “golden silence” for Paolo Fresu: 20 thousand euros per minute

http://www.unionesarda.it/articolo/politica_italiana/2015/01/14/per_il_premier_renzi_il_silenzio_d_oro_a_paolo_fresu_20mila_euro-1-403642.html

I say: “but who is this Paolo Fresu to take this money?!?!!!! We are truly a third-world country...”

I would have gone for free; it should be an honor and not a publicity stunt to play for the fallen of one's own nation.

I think that journalists, who love to create a scandal out of anything, often ignore or pretend to ignore that behind every artist there is a structure that has its own costs. A performance by Paolo Fresu (like Benigni, Pollini, etc.) involves hours of preparation and study, equipment, transport, support staff, etc., which must be paid for.

When an artist receives a 1,000 euro fee, they must compensate for the time spent performing, the time spent preparing it, they must pay their agent who organized it, the cost of the equipment used and its transport, any trusted technicians for audio, lighting, and so on.

I obviously don't know what structure is behind Paolo Fresu, but I don't believe that the 20,000 euros all ended up clean in his pocket.

Let's say I know (because I play)... let's talk about "silence," not the Goldberg [Variations].

uh, uh ... the amount would be 40,000. For that matter, think of a concert of an hour and a half

From what I know, it is already a lot that in provincial municipalities they allocate €1,200 for a solo concert... with the same requirements: the organizing agent, the cost of the equipment used (including its depreciation) and its transport, any trusted technicians for audio, lights, and so on.

this is the concert program, as written online.

Personally I believe in Fresu, but I am really not very interested in the matter.

And indeed, as often happens to me, I am disturbed by this type of discussion. They are nothing more than "flames," excuses to write a few clichés.

I am sharing this, but then excuse me, Fresu says, and I quote verbatim: it was an original 90-minute concert that I worked on for six months and which involved, in a complex and unique operation, dozens of people and dozens of countries around the world with an equal number of musicians.

Mica il silenzio dura 90 minuti....

What do you think should be done to this "journalist"? Or rather, to "journalists" in general?

From my point of view, nowadays anything you read isn't news... one cannot ask every single time if something being read is nonsense or not. Forgive me, but I prefer to live in my world of peace and serenity.

... and then they tell me that I tend to be too reserved... just look at that?!

... and here instead they talk about how to counterfeit the truth.

I think that among journalists there are - as in all other categories, only here it carries enormous weight - people who, regardless of their ideas, do their job with conscience and good faith, and those who, unfortunately, do not.

A journalist - always regardless of one's own thoughts - should give and worry about giving true news, and whoever does not do so is dishonest, professionally speaking.

I don't know about other countries, but it is certain that in Italy there exists a terrible mudslinging machine ... and this is not good. A mudslinging machine whose main goal is to equate everything and everyone, to confuse the ideas of public opinion and make it apathetic to any news.

This morning I had the opportunity to speak with a sound technician who knows Paolo Fresu well because he worked with him.

He told me that he is a very simple person without any eccentricities. According to him, knowing Paolo Fresu's fees, of those 40,000 euros, he will have collected at most 3,000 for a 90-minute concert which, in addition to the silence, included other pieces.

I understand everyone and I agree, but if we're being honest, this is crystal clear to me:

He isn't saying it, but you read it in an 'interview presumably given to a journalist ... which falls into which of the 2 classifications proposed by Daniele?

Anyway, okay with the story told by the journalist, but from today on I will refuse to read any newspaper article.

This seems more honest to me, even if Tiger's point might be valid... which is another aspect, though. It concerns one's own passions and not the profession.

Terenzio's point is interesting, practically the artist only takes 7.5% of the slice... and Fresu seems to me like one of those who earns well... imagine someone starting from 1,200 euros.

4 quick calculations... well, come on... proportionally 90 euros. This is why musicians starve. Just the performance at 60.00 euros per hour (taxes included)

But then why do you care so much about how much Fresu earns....I don't know

More than anything, it's about how public money is spent

If you want to invite him to your house and spend €40,000, go right ahead
