Hi everyone, I wanted to ask a question because I am encountering a bit of a "strange" problem with a key on my piano. I will try to explain myself as best as possible, specifying that I know piano mechanics well (I own an upright) but I don't know the names of the components (don't insult me): I know them well enough to be able to solve all problems by knowing where to act, but this time I really don't know what to do.
I have a problem with a key that seems to offer resistance when pressing down compared to the other keys: it does go down, but for the first 3/4 mm of depression, it roughly offers a certain resistance.
I should preface by saying that I adjusted the entire mechanism with a 45 mm hammer-string distance, let-off at 2.5 mm (I intentionally customized it to 2.5), and a key dip of 10 cm for all keys; there is no friction, I recently cleaned the pins with polish, very well cleaned obviously, and lubricated the entire mechanism (I think they are called bushings, i.e., those "pins" that hold the keys, the ones with the red felt washers) with Teflon.
The escapement runs well, returns well to position, the let-off is perfectly at 3 mm, there is no "bobbling" (hammer bouncing back) since the hammer rest catches the cap before it moves, but this key struggles to go down at the beginning.
Could it be the component pins? Let me know, I'm losing my mind ๐๐
