in short... to teach music education remotely (in case of new lockdowns), I connected a microphone (for speaking - Shure SM58) and a digital piano (Yamaha P140s) to an audio interface (MOTU M2). I connected the outputs of the audio interface to a small guitar amplifier (Yamaha GA-15) via an RCA to Y audio cable. I did some tests with friends. The microphone, with an XLR cable, was connected to input No. 1 (L); the piano, with another RCA to Y cable, was connected to input No. 2 (R) [the piano is a bit old; it doesn't have jack outputs, only RCA).
during a Meet call with a friend, my voice is heard well but the piano is very, very muffled, even when turning up the piano volume to the maximum on the audio interface (but doing so causes the signal to clearly distort, at least as displayed on the small screen). Could it be the fault of the RCA cable? Or could it be a structural problem with the piano which, being old and not having jack outputs, was not designed for, let's say, more computerized use?
