Huge compliments! .....it is all very coherent. The lower the key, the more I prefer it, but often when playing in B minor one gives in to "sadness with too much resignation," neglecting that sense of melancholy and heartbreaking contemplation that makes your stomach churn.

in your opening, however, there is already a lot of energy wisely balanced with that melancholic fade that makes the key of B minor so special...!

as for the sound, I like the spatiality....it feels like being in a large hall with "perfect acoustics." The timbre is clear but full...I like it!

p.s. it doesn't work on the tablet, but it does on the PC.

Listening to it again this morning with rested ears, the reverb also seems too much to me...

It works now but only with the download. Beautiful, beautifully played just like you know how to do, the piano sound is stupendous. A tiny bit less reverb? Who knows! I don't have such fine hearing.

who knows, maybe one could try to take a bit away from it! but I'm afraid it will remove the atmosphere... become too dry... I like it.

but my ears also definitely need training in these subtleties.

Here is the proof that after a while of being in front of monitors doing mixes, you need to get up and go for a nice walk. With tired ears, you do a ton of bull****t.

Yes Simone, try to lighten the reverb just a bit, but don't remove the first version... I would like to do two close listens.

Hi Simone, did you know that this was one of Rachmaninov's favorites? And according to sources close to him (read in the book "Rachmaninov: A Lifetime in Music"), he was inspired by this painting by Bocklin

I also, like others, perceive a bit too much reverb..

And I'm not certain, but I would also reduce the stereophony a little bit .. probably because I perceive the piece as something that starts from very far away and gets closer and closer before disappearing again, and I don't know how, but with too much stereo it seems to me that this effect is lost

Take this last sentence with a grain of salt because it is totally subjective

I also inserted the correct version in the first post.

@pianothor

No, honestly I didn't know this story. I will have to go and read something about this painting.

to be honest I always prefer the first one......I don't know, it gives me a different feeling, more consistent with the meaning I attribute to the piece....in my very modest opinion! besides, my listening is terrible since I don't have monitors and maybe I'm hearing things that aren't there!!!

In my opinion, it is much better with a little reverb. It results in a more contained version, almost intimate, I would say.

With too much reverb, I almost had a feeling of confusion.

I agree, Terenzio. After hours spent listening to the sound, your ears go mush and these mistakes happen. The ear no longer distinguishes because it "gets used to" liking what is actually not good. The first version, which was excessively reverberated, is therefore an error caused by ear fatigue. It is recommended to take a 15-minute break every hour of work when working with sound, specifically to reset the ear's perceptive abilities. I am obviously always watching the clock and I made the mistake. Nothing, however, that cannot be corrected the next day after a good rest.

I couldn't rest easy until I listened to it again on headphones, and it actually changes quite a bit... in the middle part, that extra hint of reverb creates too much confusion... is it possible that the listening method used changes perception so much?

Simone, better with the reverb correction, I was just suggesting to (nocturnal) Nancy to try it in headphones.

Fantastic. Nency took the words right out of my mouth!!! Very well done. I also don't like much reverb. I can't understand the pedal and it disturbs me ....but points of view. Melancholic and very lucid interpretation. Sincere compliments

I also vote for the second version with less reverb, definitely better.

Compliments on the interpretation, I like it very much. Indeed, it is much better with less reverb.
