Children of a minor third - Saturday, March 31st

A musical interval is the protagonist of this episode of “Petruška”, entitled “Children of a minor third". Michele dall’Ongaro demonstrates how many masterpieces, from Igor Stravinsky's “Edipus Rex” to Sergei Prokofiev's cantata “Alexander Nevsky”, are based on the minor third interval. His guests are the first double bass of the Rai Orchestra Augusto Salentini, and acoustic engineer Maria Giovannini, met in the Hall of the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory in Turin, who explains the importance of a correct reverberation time for listening to music. Following this is Prokofiev's cantata “Alexander Nevsky” conducted by Claudio Abbado, with images from the eponymous film by Sergei Ejzenstein reworked by Daniele Abbado and Leonardo Sangiorgi in collaboration with Studio Azzurro.
