It seems a bit scandalous to me that there has been so little discographic attention paid to the work of Gerard Grisey so far. It is so little present in concert programs.
The author of Vortex Temporum is so neglected; we are talking about one of the greatest masterpieces of the twentieth century and of all music history. The author of Les Espaces Acoustiques. Of Tempus ex machina. Of Talea. An author who composed only masterpieces and who practically founded what will be the music of the 21st century, a music increasingly based on acoustic knowledge and on transformations inspired by the latter.
Who are the most promising composers of the post-Berio, post-Ligeti, post-Stockhausen generation today? They are all Griseyans, whether conscious or unconscious. With the sole difference that they are not up to the level of Grisey, who was conceptually the last great composer in the history of music.
oh my god, there aren't just the "griseyans", even among the spectralists there are people who have been inspired by other trends, like the Romanian trend. That said, I don't have enough data to specifically evaluate the "recording" attention. It doesn't seem to me that there are so few interpretations of Grisey's works... but maybe I'm wrong
