...please help me! I've been going crazy for two days trying to figure out how to increase the "recording volume"...
i have connected everything:
-the two rode nt5 (currently experimenting with these) rme ff802 - pc- akg k270 (75 ohm). cubase le 8
i connected the microphones to the two combos with phantom power activated, placed at the front of the interface. i have set the inputs and outputs and checked that the correct ones were selected in the inspector within the project.....i can record, but when I listen back (AKG 270) it sounds very distant, almost imperceptible!.
i tried to turn up the gain but it doesn't change anything at all. i searched for how to increase the input volume of the ins but i couldn't find it anywhere....and what if it is the headphones that need to be amplified??
certainly they could have made the instructions better. They didn't think about the clueless ones like me at all!!!!!!
Can you send me a screen capture of the waveforms? What do you use for recording?
Take some screenshots of the settings you are using, a photo of your audio interface and the management software. Let's try to understand what is wrong.
It's certainly not the headphones... For 75 Ω, amplification is not normally required. There isn't this big difference in impedance between the output and the headphones.

i solved it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am ashamed to say it....it was a huge stupidity, not big...and i wasted two days on it!!!
my husband had set the gains incorrectly.....he was afraid of turning them up enough and the waveform remained almost flat!!! now I have made sure (I moved everything pc, soundcard etc. to a more comfortable position) to see for myself with monitoring what is happening and I adjusted them....I am at just over +30 and it sounds wonderful......the timbre is already quite different compared to the recording with the h4n....I can finally experiment with the various microphone positions and hear the differences!!!!
sorry Simone....I really thought I wouldn't get out of it! maybe I succeeded because knowing you would help me, I looked at the matter more lucidly and calmly...so thank you anyway !!!!!!
