Right these days I am reading a book by Alfredo Casella in which he explains in detail that Cristofori's invention was revealed by Marquis Maffei through "Il Giornale dei letterati d'Italia" in 1711, but that in reality the construction of the first three pianofortes dates back to 1709 and the first one built in 1702 is now exhibited in the Michigan Museum; then in 1738 Schroter accused Cristofori of being an "unfortunate imitator," but the Italian authorship of the piano is now indisputable; the only difference is the spread which began precisely in Germany with the first factory, Silbermann, because in Italy Cristofori's invention was received lukewarmly.

It must also be said that Silbermann, in my opinion one of the greatest German organ builders, and the organ builder for a certain Bastiano with whom he also designed numerous organs, had the great master try out the new instrument, but he was not very enthusiastic about it..... quite the opposite!
He couldn't care less, continuing to prefer the harpsichord and, obviously, the organ!
