Dear Pianoexpert...I am coming back to....is there any difference, other than the construction, between the way unison strings are passed around the frame pins used by Steinway...and the method adopted by Bösendorfer instead, which uses the attachment of individual unison strings to their respective frame pins??

As a result, there is no difference; Bösendorfer makes a loop for each string. Other brands cover two courses with a single string. Sometimes, with certain brands, a string may end up straddling the note before or after it. In that case, if the gauge is changed, one is forced to make a decision. We could have a note composed of two strings of the same diameter and one of a diameter belonging to the previous or subsequent note. This should be avoided during calculation or recalculation.
