I have never seen such a device. However, I have heard of it. I would say that all these things, like the return spring to the forcola that some manufacturers put in grand pianos, serve to "lighten the movement". Petrof certainly is not at risk of bankruptcy. The Petrof is a great piano. I remember when I studied at the Conservatory of Pesaro. The Director at the time, Marcello Abbado, brother of Claudio, had a Petrof grand piano in his studio. I had the honor of trying it out. At that time, I was there to take my 5th-year exam and on that piano I practiced the Cimarosa sonatas that I had bought on a whim. It was a beautiful afternoon. The maestro was not in, and I was given permission to study on his piano!!!! Magnificent. I have owned a Petrof upright and also a Grand. Beautiful. After my concert on May 7th in Rome, which is taking up much of my time, I will look into it and see about trying such a mechanism.
