To those of you who are more experienced, what is meant by the type of piece ‘reminiscences’, which I think means Reminiscences?
How do Liszt's fit into this logic?

Given that I am not an expert, in the case of Liszt, who wrote quite a few, the term means "fantasies" on themes from arias taken from works by various authors... personally, I do not believe a "genre" of reminiscences exists.
