Good morning,
i wanted to receive some suggestions on how to replace the hammer flange felts in my upright piano.
In particular:
1) a possibly simple procedure for ungluing the old one and gluing the new one.
2) differences between synthetic felt (like the one sold by FTP) and deer felt.
3) What type of glue is best to use? Preferably one that resists cold.

even though I see that some felt is a bit worn, this does not cause regulation problems. I wouldn't replace them. Anyway, I prefer natural felt, which has a grain and must be trimmed perfectly. It seems like a silly job but it isn't. Generally, I replace the hammers with all wood, which must be unglued with a special heating tool and you have to re-thread or change the felt strip. In my opinion, you can carry on just fine

Hello everyone! I have started playing again as an adult and I am very fascinated by the Romantic repertoire, so I am always looking for the maximum sound quality. Honestly, I wouldn't know what to advise you regarding the glue or the detachment technique, but I agree with pianoexpert on the fact that it is a very delicate job. Perhaps it is worth considering the intervention of a technician.
