For those who didn't know, as of this year, conservatory professors must submit a written request for school authorization for any external activity; in other words, for EVERY SINGLE CONCERT or musical initiative in which they will be involved. Obviously, the school could deny permission to carry out this activity.
In every application, there is the inevitable bureaucracy, but specifically, one must declare the date of the concert, the details of the Organizing Body (including tax code or VAT number), and even the expected compensation (so much for privacy....).
Then you have to declare that you will not be performing the concert during your teaching hours (but wasn't the "hourly quota" created exactly for this? Well....), that "there are no incompatibilities or conflicts of interest" with your position within the Institute (and so far, so good), and finally that "the assignment does not hinder the timely, punctual, and correct fulfillment of institutional duties" (note that among the "institutional duties" of a conservatory professor, by law, artistic activity is specifically included).
In short, increasingly tough times for the "musicians" who are truly musicians......
