On January 31, 1797, Franz Schubert was born, another of the greatest composers in music history and certainly the greatest in terms of lieder.

I on earth, you in heaven,
we both wander vigorous and firm:
i grave and sad, you sweet and luminous,
what could there ever be a difference?

Stranger, I go wandering from land to land,
totally without a homeland, totally unknown;
i cross one mountain after another, in a forest and out,
never and ever do I find myself truly at home.

But you too wander about up and down
from the cradle in the east to the grave in the west,
visiting countries and then leaving them,
wherever you are, you are nonetheless at home.

The sky, in all its endless expanse,
is your beloved homeland:
happy is he who, wherever he goes,
always finds himself, serene, on earth a homeland!

I would say Beethovenian, Schubertian, Chopin-esque...... Mozartian etc etc etc...

Sonorous and harmonic sounds... Schubert and Beethoven have plenty to offer despite the differences.

Thank you.
