Hello everyone.
I am new. I wanted an opinion on self-taught study. I should preface that I have studied ancient counterpoint and I know functional harmony and Bach's fugues. I would like to avoid enrolling in the three-year composition degree and instead attempt admission to the two-year composition master's program. Therefore, I must fill the following gaps: harmonic counterpoint, classical fugue, quartet, orchestration....in your opinion: mission impossible?

In general, everything is possible.

For me there are 2 issues: during the two-year period, the student must come to deeply master the subject and go a bit beyond stylistic reconstructions (thereby developing their own initial style); during the three-year period, one can still be anchored to well-established models that have made history.
If there are many gaps, a three-year course probably won't hurt... if it were possible, I would say a good medium completion.
