Dear pianoexpert, reviewing your very famous tutorials, my eye fell on the shape of the guide pins and the key pivot pin; why is the pivot pin inclined? Is it oval in section? Is the key guide pin cylindrical in section? Do the aforementioned pins affect the perfect alignment between the keys? And if so, how are their clearances adjusted?

the pivot one is round and the front one is oval. They must be perpendicular to the frame. In any case, they are adjusted by aligning the keyboard. The adjustment and their play are very delicate matters. Replacing the Cashmere is an expert task and requires experience and proper equipment. The best procedure is hot, but one must possess perfectly calibrated metal CAULS. There are many measurements and many cloth thicknesses. It is difficult to explain the replacement and alignment procedure verbally. In any case, the play must be minimal. With the wear of the front mortises, the oval pins can be turned a little, but this shortens the life of the gaskets because the cloth slides on a smaller tangent surface.
A sliding keyboard depends on the success of this adjustment and on the correct choice of the cloth and its depth and parallelism in the mortises.
