Shura Cherkassky (Odessa, October 7, 1911 - London, December 27, 1995), pianist.
One of the greatest virtuosos of the twentieth century, at a very young age he left Russia and went to the United States, where he studied with Joseph Hoffmann. At twelve years old, he began giving concerts that made him famous in a short time, even leading him to perform at the White House. In 1939, he settled in Paris.
His repertoire was that of the great late-Romantic soloists, with a particular preference for pages of significant technical demand, in which he could showcase his transcendental virtuosity.
