Hi, I have a troublesome problem:

when I try to bring 2 staves closer together or further apart, Sibelius also proportionally widens all the others, whose distances I did not want to change.

I am attaching a short video where the problem is clearly visible, bye and thanks

Hi, Ale. Sorry, but from the video, it really seems to me that Sibelius keeps the other staves at the exact same distance from each other as you move the single selected staff: it simply seems to me that it only adjusts the entire block in the general layout, but still leaves the distance between the other staves intact; which is how it should be... Did I misunderstand your problem?

Hi Croma, it is indeed true that Sibelius "is acting in good faith" and correctly adjusts the proportions, but my specific problem is this:

let's say I have perfectly arranged the woodwinds/brass/percussion but I need to adjust the spacing between the strings .... I take the second violins and move them down .... I would like the staff to move away from the first violins and closer to the violas, but without modifying everything above it, which is already fine.

otherwise, if the score is very intricate, it becomes like pulling a blanket that is too short

bye and thanks to everyone

And that's what I was trying to say too.

I had understood, but I wonder if it is possible, besides a sort of "automatic tuning", a "manual fine tuning" ...

Ok Ale, starting with "problem" it seemed like you were expecting something else... I'll do a few tests with a quintet, basically you want to bring closer or move further apart 2 staves out of 5 (or variants)... leaving the remaining ones fixed ...

Thx aaa, I finally took a look at it

From what I understand, he suggests disabling automatic justification for needs like mine; the problem is that writing a long score without it is even worse, automatic justification is too convenient !!!

unfortunately we are still there, all or nothing

Ale, basically, you either decide to let him do it and stick with his logic ... or you do it yourself, choosing everything for the entire piece
