hi everyone,

i am writing an educational piece for 4 guitars (for some middle school students with a musical focus). one guitar part involves a somewhat funky rhythmic-harmonic ostinato which, however, during the performance, requires muting a chord (a very common guitarist technique: the left hand maintains the harmonic position but decreases pressure on the neck so that, with the 'picking', only the sound of the non-vibrating strings is heard; at most, some harmonics... to give the impression of a 'ghost' chord).

right now, i am using FINALE 2012.

this 'ghost chord', lasting 1/8, i would like to indicate as an eighth note that, instead of the head, has an X; a bit like what is done with percussion.

do you think it is possible to achieve this notation?

if so, could you please suggest how to do it?

thanks
