Sometimes I try to sing a song with my voice and accompany it with both hands... but alas, I find it veeeery difficult to reach the pitch of the notes with my voice while accompanying with the piano... the sound of the piano is too loud (even when playing softly) compared to that of the voice which, in order to stay above the accompaniment, has to strain and go out of tune..... however, singing with the voice naturally without a piano, one manages to sing the song well..... is it a problem of key, of voice, or something else.... does it take special training to manage to sing and play simultaneously in an acceptable way???

Thanks a million

Usually, amplification is used when performing unplugged sets. It always depends on the venue. To play and sing at home, it is enough to amplify only the voice; for outdoor evenings, both the voice and piano must be amplified, and volumes must be appropriately adjusted using a mixer.

I think it is a problem of confidence in one's own abilities; you should concentrate on the vocal line (as a singer would do, for that matter) and let your hands do the rest.

Of course, you also have to feel the overall effect, but you must sing the phrases basing yourself on and trusting what you are singing more than the support of the pf which can do something else entirely
