i wanted to submit a question to you: I recently cleaned the interior of this old piano from 1840; as can be seen in the photo, it does not have a cast iron frame, but rather those wooden columns to hold the tension of the strings.
I noticed that there are cracks in the soundboard, also in the upper part, near the legs. I realize that these are serious problems and difficult to resolve, but I have the time and desire to dedicate to it, and above all, the only alternative for the instrument to come back to life is for me to take matters into my own hands, even as a self-taught person and with the risk of causing further damage. I think it is worth it, given that for the instrument the alternative would be to spend the rest of its life as a piece of furniture.
I wanted to ask you if you think it would be possible to recover the instrument (I am not asking if it is worth it, because I am aware that the answer to this question is "no"), and in what way. I suppose that in the part near the legs, one would need to compress the soundboard with iron plates closed by pins that pass through the soundboard itself. I wanted to know if you are aware of any tutorials on the internet regarding this; I have done some research but without any results.
