Can anyone give me some advice on how to reduce stage fright as much as possible, or at least how to control it?
My performances when playing in front of friends are significantly worse than when I play alone. I need to solve this problem because exams are approaching.
what to do? Have any great performers from the past (or present) left any advice regarding this?
i would like to know from those who do not have this problem, how they approach performance, and what they think just before playing.
Study everything by memory to gain maximum confidence in every passage?
Playing in public more often?
Hypnosis?
Meditation?
Recording oneself and watching it?
Concentration exercises (which ones?)
It goes without saying that while playing in front of an audience, at certain moments my mind wanders from the piece and thinks about the audience, but it is something that happens spontaneously.
The first effect of anxiety is the loss of weight and relaxation in the limbs (in particular the left one, which becomes stiffer and suspended); and partly a loss of control over the weight of individual fingers.
At home I can play a piece without mistakes, but in public it seems impossible for me.
