I advise never to alter the key downweight and let-off/return weight, which are precious values that in this brand, and especially in the Model D, are excellent. However, it can happen that, due to an increase in friction, the downweight increases and the return weight decreases. This makes the action less responsive to the pianist's refined touches. It will be enough to check and potentially replace the action pins, as well as the flattened rollers of the stiles, to restore the values. Another thing that can contribute to altering the values is the replacement and/or shaving of the hammers. In these latter cases, the weight of each key will be checked again.

Coming to the downweight values.

while up to the Model B the downweight can reach 47 gr. across the entire keyboard, in Models C and D the values are differentiated.

keys 1-13: 52 gr; keys 14-25: 50 gr; keys 26-49: 49 gr.; keys 50-61: 48 gr.; keys 62-88: 47 gr.; the return weight must be a minimum of 20 gr. + any value (it increases significantly towards the treble)

The black keys must be higher than the white keys by about 12-12.5 mm. The dip of each white key should be between 9.5-10 mm. The important thing is that there is adequate "aftertouch". The blacks will be regulated to have the same aftertouch as the whites. All these values are taken from the Steinway Hamburg manual.
